Lorraine Tran originally set out to become a chef, however after some soul searching and a bit of channel surfing she found herself wandering down the path of becoming a baker. Modeling herself after her biggest inspiration and idol, Duff Goldman, she decided to attend The Culinary Institute of America. From there she accepted an internship to work at The French Laundry, annually named as one of the top 50 restaurants in the world by Restaurant Magazine. During her internship she entered The American Cancer Societies “Taste More Birthdays” contest and became a finalist. Through some twist of fate the contest was held at Duff Goldman’s bakery, Charm City Cakes Bakery, where she was able to meet Mr. Goldman as well as appear on an episode of Ace of Cakes.
The idea of owning a bakery sparked while watching an episode of Ace of Cakes. Chubbi Cakes originated from Lorraine’s love for random doodles, funny words and tasty treats. She thoroughly believes that any bad day can be transformed, if only for a moment, into a good day when you’re given the opportunity to savor a delicious treat. Also, Chubbi Cakes just put a smile on your face. Whether you’re laughing at the name or smiling from sheer delight at the perfection of your treat; you’ve got a grin on your Chubbi face.
